Turtle



Turtles are reptiles. Turtles cannot breathe in water. They are cold blooded animals.

Turtles have bony shell covered their body. Turtles have short, sturdy feet. Their shell is made up of 60 different bones.

Turtles do not lay eggs underwater.Turtles lay soft and leathery eggs. Sea turtles lay their eggs on dry, sandy beaches. Baby turtles walk to the sea when they are hatched.

There are two groups of turtles. One group can draw their neck, and the other group contract their neck to the side.

Turtles are thought to have good night vision.

The leatherback sea turtle is the largest. They can reach a weight of 2000 pounds and shell length of 6.6 ft.

Some families keep small freshwater turtles as pets.
