Dragonfly



Dragonflies are insects. They have large multifaceted eyes, four large transparent wings,six legs, and long body.

Dragonflies eat mosquitoes, and other small insects like bees, flies, ants, and butterflies.

Dragonflies live around lakes, ponds, streams and wetlands.Dragonflies lay eggs in the water or the stem of a aquatic plant. The eggs then hatch into nymphs ( baby dragonflies) within one to three weeks.

Baby dragonflies are called nymph. Baby dragonflies live in the water for one to five years. They eat insects and small water animals. Nymph sheds its skin about 12 times to grow into adult dragonflies. This process is call molt.

Dragonflies body may be red, green, or blue, with white, yellow, or black color. Dragonflies are beautiful insects.

Dragonflies fly very swiftly and can fly 50 to 60 miles an hour.
