Groundhog Day is on February 2nd. It is a popular tradition in the United States. It is the day that groundhog Punxsutawney Phil comes out of his hole to look for his shadow and to predict the weather for the rest of winter.

According to legend, if Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow,some people think that will be six more weeks of winter weather. If he does not see his shadow, some people think that nice weather is coming and there will be an early spring. And Punxsutawney Phil the groundhog stays above ground.

The first official trek to Gobbler's Knob was made on February 2, 1887. Punxsutawney Phi has been making predictions for over 120 years!

Here is an old English song:

If Candlemas be fair and bright,
Come, Winter, have another flight;
If Candlemas brings clouds and rain,
Go Winter, and come not again.
